A Makena Cove Beach Wedding | Winnie + Justin
Winnie and Justin dreamt up an intimate beach wedding surrounded by friends and family. They considered several places and finally settled on Makena Cove (Maui) as the location of this special ceremony. Shortly after making this decision they began researching wedding photographers. From our first conversation, their enthusiasm and passion was evident. They both loved photography and had lots of questions regarding our gear, our approach and delivery options. A couple emails and a phone call later, they asked us to be their photographers 🙂 We were, of course, honored and thrilled.
For this quaint wedding, we settled on three hours of photography coverage. We began with the bride and groom at their vacation rental. Here we captured some candid ‘getting ready photos’, details of the wedding items and bridal portraits before traveling to the ceremony site. Once at the beach, we met with Rev. Laki Ka’ahumanu who guided everyone into a beautiful, heartfelt, and (at times) humorous wedding ceremony.
After the ‘I do’s” with the ocean lapping up at their feet, everyone celebrated the newlyweds and we moved into family/group photos. In the backdrop, neighbor islands Lanai, Kahoʻolawe and Molokini created a stunning scene. Then, it was time to part ways with family and friends, who said their blessings and departed for the restaurant. The sun was approaching the sea, and it was time to get into our Bride and Groom Portrait Session.
We had photographed well past sunset, into the moody deep blues and purples of twilight, when it was time for the bride and groom to head off to dinner with their guests. Smiles and heartfelt thanks reverberated as we said our goodbyes – A beautiful day for this beautiful couple. Mahalo, and congratulations to Winnie and Justin!

Birds of Paradise: The Maui Wedding of Shannon and Robert
These two are just about the sweetest couple you could ever meet! We first photographed them at our pre-wedding photo session on Maui’s youngest lava flow (La Perouse); It was a beautiful spring day with wildflowers blooming out of the black lava rock and butterflies buzzing about. The sunset was vibrant and colorful, and small surf made it possible to enter the water and capture an absolutely gorgeous portrait with a sky-meets-sea backdrop.
A couple days later we photographed their wedding at Wailea’s Marriott Beach Resort. It was a perfect day for a beach wedding and the resort property provided us with stunning settings for portraiture, details and getting ready photographs. Their theme was “Birds of Paradise” (Shannon’s favorite flower), all the floral arrangements were created by Maui’s top florist, Dellables. The entire day was magic… full of beauty and love – A special day for a special couple. Congratulations to Shannon and Robert!

Mei + Frank’s Wedding Day
It was a beautiful day for a wedding on Maui’s south shore; Mei was getting ready in her ocean side suite, while Frank changed into his traditional Scottish kilt and garb. That afternoon, surrounded by their friends and family, our bride and groom exchanged vows and united in marriage on an intimate sandy beach. In between the wedding events we snuck away for a fun, hour-long portrait session and explored Kihei’s coastline during sunset. The reception to follow was filled with delicious food, drinks, hula lessons, fire dancing, karaoke and lots of laughter – A perfect Maui wedding for the perfect couple. Congratulations to Mei and Frank!!

The Wedding of Krista & Daniel | Olowalu Plantation House
With loved ones traveling all the way from Australia, Canada and the mainland, Maui’s Olowalu Plantation House was the perfect half-way venue for Krista and Dan’s wedding celebration. It was a blessed day full of high spirits and beautiful light – We feel honored to have been invited to photograph such a gorgeous event! Where do you find the love of your life? For Daniella and Chris it was when they happened to step onto the same elevator. Now fast-forward to a beautiful afternoon on the south shore of Maui – their wedding day. An intimate group of family and friends were present as they exchanged vows. Surrounded by palm trees swaying in the trade winds and the sun glistening on warm Hawaiian waters, Dani and Chris confirmed what began back in that Canadian elevator all those years ago. On May 16th they became husband and wife, and we were there with our cameras to capture this beautiful day in photographs.

Lahaina Love – The Wedding of Mike & Kim
The historic Lahaina Town is special place for Mike and Kim. Not only is it the location of their wedding day, but it is also the very place that they met over 12 years ago. At that time, Kim was living on Maui and waitressing in the small beach town. Mike was vacationing with his family, and happened to be seated in Kim’s section of the restaurant one night. The rest is history. They had their first date here, and to make this place even more special, Mike later proposed on the beach down the street.
On May 11th, they came back with family and friends to continue their relationship with Lahaina. This time it was to exchange vows on the same shoreline that had been so significant to their lives. There were some tears, lots of laughter, extraordinary floral arrangements and an outrageous sunset. We were there with our cameras to photograph this momentous occasion and want to express our gratitude and congratulations to this incredible couple.

Sail away with me – The Wedding of Chip & Elaine
It was a beautiful day for a wedding; clear blue skys with an ocean as calm as a lake. Chip & Elaine boarded Trilogy with their closest family and friends to celebrate their love for each other. It was in Honolua Bay, on Maui’s western coast where the couple exchanged their vows. Even the marine life wanted to give their blessing as turtles were popping up to say hello and whales were breaching during the ceremony. As we sailed back to Lahaina, the islands gave the newlyweds a grand “Congratulations” with an absolutely gorgeous sunset. Truly a remarkable wedding day aboard Trilogy Excursions. Midwest to Maui – The Wedding of Natalie & David
It was during a visit to Oahu when Natalie & David first fell in love with the islands. They both knew that when it came time for a wedding, it would be in Hawaii. Well the time did come, and it was decided The Valley Isle would be the perfect place to exchange their vows. So it was here, on Maui’s south shore that they came together with an intimate group of family and friends to celebrate their love for each other. Their big day was classic & elegant, full of tears of joy and lots of laughter. We were happy to be there with our cameras to photograph this special day.

Before The Big Day: An Engagement Session with Kate & Dave
Kate and Dave will be “tying the knot” in a few days at the Majestic Maui Estate near Lahaina. To kick off their wedding week, we met for a one-hour engagement session at the beautiful Olowalu Peninsula. It was a sunny afternoon on Maui and we choose a special location for the fun couple from Massachusetts.
Our session was very relaxed and Kate and Dave were so easy going and natural in front of the camera. We’re grateful for the opportunity to meet and photograph these two and very excited to document their wedding later in the week!

Mr. and Mrs. – The Wedding of Stephanie and Andrew
It is a beautiful day at the historic Olowalu Plantation House. Our bride and groom are getting ready. The flowers and leis are arriving and the tables are being set. Family and friends are gathering from California all the way to New York, and there is the sound of waves gently lapping up on the shore. A stillness is in the air as everyone prepares for the ceremony. This is the wedding day of Stephanie and Andrew…
From their first email, we could tell that Stephanie and Andrew were a fun loving couple. They joked with us from the very start and shared stories like we were old friends.
The officiant was incredible and heartfelt as he sounded the conch, recited Hawaiian chants and involved the entire family in the beautiful union of Stephanie and Andrew. The entire ceremony took place just fifty feet from the sea shore while palm trees and a bright blue sky stood as the backdrop.
A spectacular sunset as seen from the shores of the Olowalu Plantation House, November 3rd, 2012. Stephanie and Andrew basked in their first moments as husband and wife.
The evening was extraordinary; Great food and speeches accompanied by dancing. Sparklers came out and the newly joined families celebrated under the giant trees and infinite starry sky.
